The Whiting Lane Be The Media Junior Video Team covers all sorts of events and stories at Whiting Lane Elementary School. The team is made up of 4th and 5th graders selected each year for participation.

Completed video submissions are submitted to West Hartford Community Television (WHC-TV), West Hartford’s PEG(Public, Education, and Goverment) TV station. WHC-TV can be seen by West Hartford Comcast Cable subscribers on Channels 5, 95, and 96. You can also watch WHC-TV Channel 5 streaming on their website:

The Whiting Lane Junior Video Team is part of Be The Media, a program started by WHC-TV to encourage community participation. Flip Cameras are available at all 16 West Hartford Public Schools. Also, anyone can check out a camera from a West Hartford public library or from West Hartford Community Community Television’s studio at 50 South Main St, Town Hall Building.

• How you are able to complete work that will be missed in the classroom
• Project ideas that you have for a video
• Experience you have had using video cameras and editing software
