A forum is an assembly for open discussion on a specified topic.

Forums are a feature available to Edublogs Campus blogs only.  The forums functionality allows each blog to have their very own forums – embedded in any page or post.

You can use this program to burn Flip videos to DVD discs(good for assemblies, etc.):

I found these two options also tucked away in my Tech Tips folder..

Here’s a perfect way to share those YouTube videos at school that you are normally blocked from..

Our district (like many) block YouTube access, but SchoolTube is allowed (it’s moderated). You can now grab the URL of any YouTube video and “upload” it to SchoolTube. Now while at school we have a way of showing videos to students that we were prevented from before…just think of the possibilities!

You’ll find this new option during the upload process. Create your free teacher-based account first and you’ll be able to use this new feature.

Transfering a Youtube video to Schooltub

If you have a free account at schooltube, you can “Import a Video” and plug in the URL of the YouTube video and it will pull the video into your account at SchoolTube. There is a slight delay, and if there is a school moderator, that person has to “approve” the video before you can see it.

 http://www.zamzar.com??

In the past I was able to copy/paste the YouTube URL from a Google Search into ZamZar and convert it to wmv and download it.

How about building a “word wall” or a word list for a piece of text? It provides a visual analysis of any text that you type or paste into it, and then generates lists of the most useful vocabulary words and shows you how those words are used in context. This website has a free component, a free trial and can be subscription based for all bells and whistles

SMART Technologies has by far some of the best resources right on their own sites.  For any of you that have SMART Boards in your schools, here are some great links.  SMART just debuted a new Lesson Activity Tookit 2.0.  If you don’t’ have Notebook version 10, you won’t have this.  This is in addition to the Gallery Essentials that many teachers already use.  A video that explains the Lesson Activity Toolkit 2.0 perfectly is here. http://downloads01.smarttech.com/media/trainingcenter/flash/tutorials/6_thelessonacttoolkit/lessonacttoolkit.htm  It is only 5 minutes long.  I showed this at a training and it quickly explained the toolkit to teachers and got them interested in using it.

Other great videos like this one can be found here http://smarttech.com/Trainingcenter/material.asp
I use the SMART Exchange as well as my teachers because there are so many good resources you can just edit a little for your purposes.  There are even some library things like Dewey lessons and activities.

I also subscribe to the ED Compass Newsletter from SMART.  It keeps me updated on the latest SMART products and services.  You can view the current and previous editions at this link.

Copying a Video from Youtube onto Flash Drive

There is actually a website that you can use. It’s a lot easier. Print off these directions and leave them by your home computer… I’ve used this site a million times but still need the directions :)

Here’s the scoop:

*after finding your YouTube video at home, copy the URL address (at the top, or under the SHARE option at the bottom of the video)

*go to …. http://zamzar.com

*there is a place for you to paste the URL…

*choose the format WMV

*enter your school email account

*When you get to school the next day you can download the video to the Teacher Drive or to your computer.

CAUTION: :) This only works if you download the video onto your school computer within 24 hours of using ZAMZAR… after 24 hours it clears itself, so don’t email yourself on a Friday or Saturday. Wait until Sunday to use zamzar.
