Hello and Welcome! I am so glad that you would like to learn more about me! I currently teach third grade in room 8 at Whiting Lane Elementary School. This is my seventh year at Whiting Lane but it is my eighth year teaching. I used to teach third grade special education at John Pettibone Elementary School in New Milford, Connecticut. I am so pleased to have moved to West Hartford Public Schools and become part of this bustling community. Before I was a teacher I went to Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree for a triple major in Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education. I decided to come back to Connecticut to teach because I have always admired the high caliber of schools this state possesses, and I was looking for a district that will both challenge me and teach me. This is what I’ve found in West Hartford. This past February, I graduated Valedictorian of my class at Full Sail University, finishing my masters degree in Educational Media Design and Technology. I am excited to incorporate my new learning into our classroom! Here are my some of my favorite things in the entire world. Maybe you have something in common with me! I love being out in nature, hiking up mountains, listening to the birds, riding my bike through the woods, you name it in nature and I love it! My favorite foods include corn on the cob, pie, and the mushroom burger from Plan B restaurant in West Hartford. YUM! I love to read. I especially love reading about history. I have spent most of my free time reading about Native American history and learning details about their culture. My husband is a fifth grade teacher at Duffy Elementary School. We bought a house in town; A real fixer-upper. Our puppy named Ruby just turned four! She’s a Basset Hound and just as cute as a button! She is looking forward to becoming a big sister! That’s right! My husband and I are expecting our first child, a baby boy named Wren, in September of 2011! |

Hello everyone!
My name is Ms. Denault and I am SO excited to be a part of Whiting Lane this year! As you know, I will be helping Mrs. Roberts-Walstrom in her class everyday until baby Wren is born, and then I will be your teacher until she comes back in January. I am very excited to get to know all of you over the next few months, but for now, here is a little information about me!
I graduated from Central Connecticut State University in December 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, and have been substitute teaching at schools all over West Hartford ever since. My favorite school so far has been Whiting Lane, so I am thrilled that I am lucky enough to be here everyday!
Before I graduated and became a teacher, I spent my summers working for the West Hartford town pools. I’ve worked at Beachland pool for the past 7 years. I started as a lifeguard, and then I became the swim team coach and began teaching swimming lessons to some wonderful children just like you!
In my free time, I like to be as active as possible. I love running, biking, and swimming, and one of my favorite things to do is spend a day hiking with friends and exploring new places.
I also LOVE traveling. It’s such a great way to meet new people and learn about different cultures around the world. This past spring I went to Ireland, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, and the year before that I went to China! The place I would love to go to next is Australia.
I hope that all of you are as excited as I am for the new school year. Let’s make it a great one!
