African Americans Who Struggled to End Slavery
Why does the institution of slavery last as long as it does? Today we see the system of slavery as being unfair and unjust, but for over 200 years, the institution endured in our nation. Four factors helped to keep it in place:
- The legality of slavery
- The psychological effects of slavery
- The economics of slavery
- The violence of the slave system
You will research an individual who struggled to end slavery. With the information you gathered, you will write a 4 paragraph essay on their relationship to why slavery lasted so long. You will make a poster of the person with a quote of theirs.
