7. Diplomacy and War
War and Diplomacy: 1796-2000
March- April 2012
Another way to define who we are as Americans is to look at what face we turn to the rest of the world. How does the United States relate to other countries and how has this changed over time? Our government has swung from interventionist to isolationist over the past 200 years. You will analyze how United States foreign policy has changed militarily, politically, and economically in times of war and in times of peace, and how it has defined the American identity.
During this unit you must listen to one podcast on diplomacy in the 20th century from the Gilder Lehrman Institute. http://www.gilderlehrman.org/historians/podcasts/
After you listen, write a blog on this page which 1. Names the lecture and the historian, 2. Tells what 3 key pieces of information for others to know, 3. recommends the lecture to others (what can fellow students learn?)
