Fifth Grade at Louise Duffy Elementary is a very exciting year. Students have reached their final elementary year and are now leaders of the school. Skills are learned to prepare for middle school and students work toward independence and taking responsibility for their successes and challenges. The following Web Page represents our first year of fifth grade together. The students will take as much ownership as possible for all of the following pages. I am excited about using the Internet in the classroom and teaching my students how to publish in the twenty-first century.

About Ms. Taylor

This is my 12th year teaching in West Hartford. Prior to teaching in an elementary school I worked 10 years in computer marketing and 10 years in broadcasting. I enjoy challenge and am always looking for new opportunities for growth. My life adventures include sky diving, scuba diving, an Everglades canoe trip and foreign travel. TA few years ago I went  to Japan on a Fulbright Memorial Scholarship to study Japanese culture and schools.

In 2008 I adopted my daughter Faith from Vietnam. She is a wonder and the greatest joy I have ever known. I am an avid sailor and have solo sailed a 27 foot sailboat. I have taught sailing in Stamford, chartered in the Caribbean, raced on Lake Erie and was a crew member for in the Rolex International Keel Boat race in Newport, Rhode Island. Skiing is my winter passion and I am an expert downhill skier and a competent cross country skier. I also love to  kayak, roller blade, golf, garden, camp, quilt, and singing.
