About
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students at Sedgwick are from many different countries around the world and some are born in the U.S. All of the students are in 6th, 7th or 8th grade and speak a language that is not American English. We usually have at least 10 different language groups in classes each year. Some of the languages are Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Nepali, Vietnamese. They bring with them different cultures but they all have in common the desire to learn English.
Tell us what country and city you are from, and when did you come to the U.S.A. Describe what the trip was like, and how you felt when you first came to America. What was the same here and what was different in Connecticut? What do you miss from your country? What did you bring with you from your old home? How do you like your new home?
