Science: Complete a colered moon observation tonight.
Future Lunar Observations: I will be assigning 2-3 observations/week for the next four weeks, so that students will see a full lunar cycle. The moon’s rising and setting changes every day, so some observations will be during the day, and others will be at night. Obviously, our ability to see the moon will depend on the weather.
You can help your sons and daughters succeed in this assignment by reminding them to do their observations when assigned, and by helping them understand where East and West are relative to your house — the moon rises in the East and sets in the West just like the sun, but its timing changes daily. Moon rise/set times and the phases of the moon can be found on the inside front page of the Hartford Courant every day, or at http://stardate.org/nightsky/moon – but students should NOT be sketching from the paper or internet without permission – they must actually look at the moon!
thanks for your support!
