the way the auther got me hooked is, by having there be something bad happen to his family. Because that changes the whole story. because with out that he wouldent be picked on. i think that if he gets picked on that he willtry harder and will have something that hes working for.
I tottally agree about the bad thing happening to the family changing the story and it deffenitly changes the whloe story:)

the way the auther builds suspence
The auther buils suspense when gil doesn’t get a good number in line.
This meens he might not get in to the gollywhopper games and then he can’t win.
That is the problem because he hased to win or else they won’t move.
I know this because in the story it saysGil looked at his card 5915
And that is how the auther builds suspence.
I so far like the book! Right now all i want to do is read more because the author leaved me hanging when he said Gil ran back to his bag.~Anna
Something unsettling about what I read today was when Gilbert got to high if a number so he did not make the 4,500. That also made me wonder about what was going to happen next.
I think he is going to find a ticket on the ground and get in.
o.k. jack i ment dad secend. the auther made it suspenceful by makeing him have a low number so your wondering is he going to get in and even if he gets in and even if he does he has a very low chance of wining so this is suspensful
It hooked me in on page 6 when he had card 5,915 but you might not make it if you have card 1,114.
Also that his dad got arrested so that gave me a lot of suspense.
What was unsettling
What was unsettling about what I read today was it never told me what you do in the gollywhooper games. Do you run trying to search through toys or solve riddles? This is what was unsettling about what I read today.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa they totally explain what they do in the golly whoppers games….MAYBE your just missing it:)

They don’t explain every round only when you get to it the round so I
think grant is right. No affense.
I think he is going to be given a good ticket from Gloria and he’ll make it in.
I predicted Gil was going to not make the next round because I thought he was creative not smart. I was also kind of confused when all the camera guys were at there house if they were there for Gil or the dad.
me to what do you think of the book, ithink that it is a little weird that the componey is just giveing away money
ithink that the first one who is going too be out is eighter rocky or thorn. because they relied on cheating and now that there going to be on camra crew watching the whole time. also there not that smart
I think one of them is going to be eliminated. I think think this because the the owner got 1 million dollars from one of the dads . Even if he nows he cheated on the test he gave him so much. That is the kind of guy the owner is.
What suptrised me was so many kids cheated on the test.I know this because on kid took out an ear piece. Also a different kid got singhnals from his dad those where the answers. This is what suprised me.
I agree with grant. I also think that some of the kids could of cheated but I think the one kid with the ear piece was not cheating.

I looked at the story in Gil’s view. To me there is alot of things going on in his head like i made it to the last round! ,
I hope I win, and the reporters are sooo annyoing. These came to mind because those are the major points like he does
want to win and if he does that is going to change his reputation. Or the reporters are really annoying just because
his dad got acused, its so big for gil to be in the gollywhopper games they have to go around asking questions that
aren’t their business. That really made me change my mind and feel bad and happy for gil. Happy because he made it far and bad because
on top of accoplishing that he has to end the day with everyone thinking his dad stole the money and it I know its all reality.

i think that at the end it will be bionica and gil and then bionca will get out some how because in books theres a always a happy ending for the main charecter. the reason that i think that boinica will be with him is gil will help her to the end .
Why do you think Bianca I think Lavinia with Gill so she can get that scholarship.
I just hit the part were the teams are having a stare down I wonder what’s going to happen next
Lavainia and Gil I think are gong to lead the tean to victory. I think this because all the other two boys fight alot and Bianca is a person how says rondom stuff and it works. I know this because she got into the top ten by picking numbers she liked. That is why I think tose two are going to lead the team.
now I know what you do in the gollywhopper games. It seems like you do a bunch of riddles but they are logical.

I think they made up alot of time making the baby because Carol didn’t come in a long time. I think she didn’t come because the other team was stuck on something and she couldn’t leave.
I think that Gil’s team is going to make it through to the last round
because Gil and some of his teammates are determinded to win!
when you are determinded you don’t stop at any amount of problem
to get to your goal ( in their case win). I think this because they have
a perfect balance of people, a brainiac, a athlete, a quiet guy, and a girl that
will help but whine when she messes up her hair. And also because
Gils the main character and in most books the main character wins!
Thats why I think Gil’s team is going to make it to the last round!

i agree with jack this story is always makeing you want to know what happends to gil.and i also agree with grant,almost all of the games it seams arelogic and brain

It has been getting me frusterated no matter what they do they can’t catch up at one point they where 9 seconds behind and they didn’t catch up
I was surprised that Gil and Rocky are getting along better. In the story it says that rocky was gil’s bowling buddy. Also gil is learning to ignore rocky when he is rude are nagging at people. I also think that the whole team is getting along better becuase there all cooperating and saying there ideas
what suprised me was that bert didn’t want him in the games even though hewanted to see him. and if he is going to kick him out he should get more money than the winner. I’m starting to not like Mr. Gillywhopp. He is starting to be mean to Gil. I think his dad is going to get him keep moving in the games.

I predicit that the green team ( gil, bianca, rocky,lavinia,and thorn, ASA winners of gollywhopper games) re going to get a suprise other than the 1,000,000,000.00 that they were promised in the begginging if they won but something like the biggest cake or a huge amount of ice cream. I think in the end of the book mr.gollywhopper is going to give gil the company because mr.gollywhopper was so happy that gil entered and seemed like he wasn’t happy about what the police did to gil’s dad. I kinda think it might end up like charlie and the chocolate factory, where mr. wonka gave charlie the factory. I also think after this gil will have a better reputation cause he won and Rocky will be nice and want to be gil’s friend……can’t wait to read more

i think that it’s a little wierd that gil came in seccend because when they where compeating aginst the other team gil seamed like he was the smartest and he was the best at solveing puzzless, but i suspected that if gil came in secend Lavinia would come in first because the other people arn’t the brightest people in the world and they all cheat.
I agree, how did he not come in first. But maybe Lavinia is a little better than Gil at those type of problems. That could mean a lot in the future.
Gil came in first place and lavina came in second.
I am so glad he made it to the next round with Lavaina. I wonder who is going to make it next. Ithink its pretty obies who is going to be eleminated. It’s going to be Thorn, because he doesn’t have his ear piece. and in the next round it is going to be Rocky. I think it is going to be laviania and gil in the final.
The auther left me hanging when they didn’t tell me if they moved or not. I dont think they did because he said he was the teams new reciever. But the problem is he said he wanted to live a normal life. I don’t think he is going to have a normal life living in the same town.
From the beinning I was positive that gil was going to win and he did. But during that the author tricked me into thinking that he had lost. Then when there was technical difficulties and gil was let in. I was very surprised about that because I thought in such a big competion that he would have no chance of being let back in.
