Welcome

If parents can’t see some assignments / assignments that are not “published” in Parent Portal:
by John Guidry

  1. In your gradebook, click on the “Assignments” tab at the top…next to Scoresheet.
  2. On the top half of your screen, you will see all of your assignments for the selected class nicely laid out in a list, sorted by date due.  On the bottom half of your screen, you will see the details for the first assignment on that list.
  3. Focus for a minute on the bottom half of the screen and click on the “Publish” tab (the middle one) for that assignment.
  4. You’ll see a drop-down box by “Publish Assignment”; in that box are five choices:ImmediatelyOn Specific DateDays Before DueOn Due Date, and Never.  This box controls when parents (and students) can see that particular assignment on PowerSchool, along with any grade associated with that assignment.
  5. 98% of the time, I leave Publish Assignment as “Immediately“.  If I have something that I want turned in, but I don’t think that it is important enough for the parents to see, I set Publish Assignment to “Never“.
  6. Set “Publish Assignment” to the value that makes sense for that first assignment.  Click on the box after Publish Scores:  if you wish to publish and you will see a check mark in the box unless it is already there.  Press “Save” at the bottom right on your screen, and then turn your attention to the top half of the screen. Select the next assignment and start the process over at step 3, above.
  7. When you have worked with all the assignments for a particular class, click on the next class in the upper left corner of your screen, and then follow the above steps for all the assignments associated with the new class.
