Welcome to my classroom blog

Education and Work Experience

My name is Lori Durocher and I’ve been teaching Kindergarten for over 21 years.  I  have a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Math and Science.  Prior to that I earned  a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Child Psychology.  I am beginning my 16th year at Norfeldt Elementary; having previously taught Kindergarten in the town of Bethany for 6 years.

Personal

When not at school working, I am spending time with my husband, Stephen and two children Emily, 18 and Brian, 13.  Emily is a senior this year in high school while Brian is entering 7th grade.  I enjoy gardening, Book Club, traveling with my family and attending my children’s cross country meets, volleyball matches, and basketball games .  We are roller coaster fanatics and enjoying traveling to many locales to find the next best thrill ride!  We often find ourselves at Disneyworld, Universal’s Islands of Adventure or Six Flags.  For relaxation, we love traveling to the beaches of Florida and sneaking in weekends to Ogunquit, Maine.

I hope you’ll find this blog helpful in terms of staying informed about your child’s Kindergarten classroom learning experiences.  Remember that all postings and replies/comments can be seen by all who view this blog.  Please remember to only use children’s first names (no last names please.)  I hope you’ll visit often–there’ll be lots to talk about every evening at the dinner table!!!!
