Good Evening Everyone! I apologize for the later than usual post, I am still at school working on some reading lessons for the children and just realized that I didn’t blog yet…..sorry. Today in Kindergarten, the children worked in their personal writing journals telling about yesterday’s weather, today’s weather, and tomorrow’s forecast. This was meant to piggy-back on our study of “Whatever the Weather” unit now being done in Storytown. The children did a marvelous job with Miss Campagna, Mr. Housum and Mr. Alquist! I am seeing much more detail and a greater use of lower case letters–hooray!
After snack, each child designed “The king’s horses and the Kings Men” for their Humpty Dumpty Rhyme time project! After designing the characters, cutting them out, gluing down all of yesterday’s -all word family words from computer lab, and then creating a “good egg” from a template, their work was done! It was soon time for Music and Gym.
You should have discovered in your child’s folder tonight a pink paper with a poem attached for our upcoming Mother Goose show. Please note that the name of your child’s partner(s) is listed on the poem so if you would like to coordinate costumes–you may–this is not a necessity however. Please have your child begin practicing the poem and developing hand motions. We will begin rehearsing in class next week.
Lastly, we will be doing a project with our 5th grade buddies involving snowmen and poetry. For this project, I need each child to bring in 1 pair of new white socks (any size is okay–child or grown-up). If you can get ones without writing or designs that is even better! Please send them in a bag labeled with your child’s name—you can imagine 44 white socks that all look the same & children saying “no really that white sock is mine”. :) If I could have all socks in by next Friday (the 13th)–that would be great!
Thank you to everyone for your kind e-mails yesterday. I’m excited to say that the purple cast is now off! Although not fully healed yet, the compression fracture is showing improvement. I have been down-graded to a less obtrusive immobilization device until healing is complete. :) Hooray…no more showering with a plastic bag wrapped around the arm.
Have a great night everyone! Time to go home! Until tomorrow…. -Lori

I am Bella’s “Aunt Nini” and I just want you to know how much I appreciate these blogs. I am so impressed with how fast you send these out and the detail that you include. It helps start a conversation with Bella when I get to talk to her about school and what activities she enjoys. Thank you for taking such great care of my niece and all the other children.
I’m Britt’s Aunt Julie, and I could not agree more with Nancy’s comment. As a middle school teacher, I am in awe of how much you can pack into a week, Mrs. Durocher! I so appreciate that on a near-daily basis, I can see Britt in his school environment, or a piece of his work – it makes being far away in Maine not so difficult. Thank you, thank you.
so glad to hear you enjoy hearing about our Kindergarten adventures each day…..
