Our 5th graders are singing a centuries old tune byMichael Praetorius called “Rise Up, O Flame”. Enjoy!
Michaela, one of our 4th grade students, wrote this beautiful song to honor the memory of her cat Harry. Harry passed away last year. It is titled “I Miss You”
Here is one of our favorite singers, Bobby McFerrin, at an International Science Conference, demonstrating the magic of the pentatonic scale (for example – do, re, mi, sol, la) and how the brain can recognize how the notes sound when put together.
The 5th grade is studying a piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart took the melody we know as “Twinkle Twinkle” and wrote several variations on it. That means he changed some parts of it.
Here is a website where you can learn about Mozart:
Here are the words for the well known song, “Drill, Ye Terriers!”
1. Ev’ry morning at 7:00, there were twenty terriers a-workin’ at the rock,
And the boss comes along and he says, “Keep still!”
And come down heavy on the cast iron drill!
Chorus
And Drill ye terriers, drill. And drill, ye terriers, drill!
For it’s work all day for the sugar in your tay, down behind the railway,
And drill, ye terriers, drill. And BLAST! And FIRE!
2. Now, the new foreman is Jim McGann, By God, he was a blamed mean man,
Last week a premature blast went off & a mile in the air went big Jim Goff!
3. The next time payday came around, Jim Goff a dollar short was found,
When he asked, “What for?” came this reply, “You were docked for the time
you were up in the sky!”
