5-3 Grade 8-After completing your first three paragraphs for Starlett 14, read the blue pages 189-191. “What Acutually Happened.” Answer the questions on pgs. 190-191. How did Starlett’s life actually turn out? You will need to complete this assignment in order to complete paragraph 4 of your paper. Your paper is due on Monday. Grade 6-Read for 30 minutes.

5-6 Grade 8 Annotate & answer the questions at the end if you haven’t completed this. You should start your legal case paper by writing the background of the case and the decision you reached as the judge. Use your annotated notes & reread parts of the article. Grade 6 Answer all of the questions on P. 8 (except # 3-5 under Know the News) for “Oh Baby.” You may need to reread the article we discussed in class today. Also, study your pie chart carefully!

Grade 8-You are annotating “Starlett 14″ by writing things you are noticing, questions you have, & connections on each page of the article. I am looking for a couple of your annotations on each page. You can also start answering the questions at the end of the article on the last page to help prepare for tomorrow’s discussion and for your legal case paper that is due on Fri. The copy of that assisnment is below:

Complete a four paragraph paper that explains your decision, as the judge, to sentence Starlett.

 

____Paragraph 1-Introduce the case and explain the background of the case. State your decision based on the bullets on P. 187. & at least two main reasons for your decision.

 

____Paragraph 2-Elaborate your first reason by using details from the text. Explain how her letter might have or have not influenced your decision.

 

____Paragraph 3-Elaborate your second reason by using details from the text. Explain how her letter might have or have not influenced your decision.

 

____Paragraph 4-is your conclusion where you will compare your decision to the actual case decision by the judge. How were your decisions different or alike? Did the judge make you think about anything you didn’t think about before. Make a statement about what it’s like trying to decide legal cases. 


4-30 Grade 6 Complete “Why it is important” for each of your important details on “America Revisted: Where does coal come from?” Grade 8 Complete 2-3 annotations per page for Starlett, 14. Start answering the questions on the last page. You will need to answer some of those questions in your paper when you judgement of Starlett paper and for tomorrow’s discussion.

4-25 Grade 6 Study your vocabulary words and study guide on natural resources for your test tomorrow. Find a partner to practice for your test. Grade 8 Study your graphic organizer on the 3 branches of government & your notes on the back. Study your Ch. 7 Vocabulary packet on the Constitution & the Bill of Rights. Read over your assignment on the Bill of Rights. Find a study partner. Your test is tomorrow. You will have to demonstrate in class that you know the information by practicing with a study partner in class tomorrow as part of your test.
