Does anyone know how to do #141 on the review test?

***just the review problems, not the chapter test

  3. Tiana Piscitelli says:

Sarah, I think Mrs. Corricelli said not to worry about it in class today

hey guys! does anyone know how to do 113 on tonight’s homework? i looked at calcchat & i didn’t understand why they did what they did, so i was hoping someone could explain it. thanksss :)

    Olivia,

when you subtract logarithms, it is just like dividing the two. so, log(x/y) = log(x) − log(y).

so when you plug in the numbers on the equation, ln abs(cos x) – ln abs(sin x), it is just like ln abs (cos x/sin x), which is just ln abs (cot x). (abs = absolute value of)

    hope that makes sense!

  6. Olivia Basil says:

thanks so much sarah! that definitely makes sense! i think i just had a brain-fart (for lack of a better term hahah) and i was thinking we had to multiply the sides by log and do something funky. but i think i got it now. thank youuuu :)

  7. Colleen Lynch says:

I had the same question. Thanks Sarah

  8. corricelli says:

Yes – I threw these in not as something that will be directly assessed this unit, but we will be seeing exponentials and logs soon… Its good to remind your brain about their rules now and then!

    Great job Sarah! :)

Also, everyone, I updated the Team 2 and 7 page so that there is a chapter 5 page and page for each section. Sorry for the delay!

Take care and keep me posted (on the new page),
    Mrs. Corricelli

  9. Taylor Schumann says:

Thanks Sarah! I also looked up the Properties of Logarithms and they are all on page 238 just for future reference

  10. corricelli says:

    Taylor,

Please post to chapter 5 – I made a section for these posts…

    Thanks and happy blogging!

    Mrs. Corricelli
