  1. Kerry McFadden says:

I was helping my dad build a stand for his spankin’ new speakers and the stand had a triangular base. There was a beam which went across the middle, which I recognized as a midsegment. I got SUPER excited and exclaimed, “DID YOU KNOW THAT THE BEAM GOING ACROSS IS HALF THE LENGTH OF THE BASE OF THE TRIANGLE?!”. He looked at me kind of strange but was also very impressed at the knowledge I had recently obtained in geometry class.

  2. Amalia Mangiafico says:

The same thing happened to me when I went in my attic with my mom and little sister to do some “early spring cleaning”. There was a beam near the ceiling going across the room, and I told my mom “We learned about that beam in geometry. It’s called a midsegment, which means that the beam is half the length of the base of a triangle”. My mom smiled and my little sister got confused and said, “It’s a whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!”
