Mrs.Corrcelli are we going to be using the new terms we learned today? Like symmetry property, ect.
Matt,
Yes – have you done the hw? Similar to what was done in class, these properties do show up. The transitive property, especially, is very useful!
Thank you,
Mrs. Corricelli
For question 9 in the homework, Do you have to find the value of X first and then use the substitution property to plus x back in the equations? ( PQ + QR = PR, (2x+5) + (6x-15) =46, x=7 , 2(7)+5 + 6(7)-15 ?)
An,
Yes… Now think about how you can set this up in a proof…
So:
1.) PR = 46, PQ = 2x+5, QR = 6x – 15 1.) Given
2.) PQ + QR = PR 2.) Segment Addition Post
3.) 2x+5 + 6x – 15 = 46 3.) Substitution
Then, just keep rolling forward as you did in 2.4. Hope this helps!

When setting up a proof and when you write down the conclusion and justification, will “given” always be number 1? or could you just start solving the problem?
Libby,
Yup!
Good realization!
Mrs. Corricelli
On the homework what do call the property when you change XW to 8
Fernando,
15 min before class, its probably better to just wait until class… Was resolved in class… Are you ok now?
Mrs. Corricelli
why is their no stop to new terms?
Shawn,
Do you mean the new vocabulary? This is a BIG part of geo – organizing all the vocab (theorems, postulates, definitions, and properties) in your brain is a huge undertaking! I know that it is overwhelming a little at the start… Hang in there! Try some of the suggestions from class…
Happy Wed,
Mrs. Corricelli
For question number 7 on the 2.5 worksheet, what is a proof paragraph? Do you just write the justifications as a paragraph? Or do you solve in a chart?
Alyson,
Two column proof is fine!
Thank you,
Mrs. Corricelli
