Some information if you are excited to get some computer science exposure right NOW!
1.) Did you know that a new club has formed right here at Conard, called Club CHS (Computer, Hardware, Software)??? It meets every other Friday – our next meeting is the first Friday in February in Room 168. The blog for the club is: blog.whps.org/clubchs It is managed by Christian Kuntz.
2.) Creating HelloWorld Project in BlueJ (note: You need to go to Great Links (look up) here and get BlueJ and Java first).
x = boolean variable (1 if you are interested, 0 if you are not interested)
y = integer (your grade level in Fall 2012)
If (you == 1) AND (y == 12), see me (Room 168) so we can touch base.
If (you == 1) AND (y < 12), consider taking Introduction to Programming to prepare for APCS.
Introduction to Programming is a half year business course. The course code is HSBU2472.
AP Computer Science is a year-long math course. The course code is HSMA7700.
A few links for some information about how AP Computer Science might help in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) Pathway (STEM Pathway) OR how AP Computer Science fits in our current math curriculum (How APCS Fits into STEM) are here.
See me with any questions. Note also the link above for current APCS Information. See Great Links to find links to Java, our development environment (including a youtube video to help).
