Midterm Survey 2012

A busy weekend . . .

I hope you’ve all been as busy as I have this weekend.  Catching up is hard to do, eh?  Well, her goes nothing.  My final reminder:

ALL FINAL DRAFTS OF YOUR WRITING PORTFOLIO ARE DUE WEDNESDAY BY THE END OF CLASS!!!

If you need anything, please let me know.  For the most part, this is all on you.  Remember no student will pass this class unless he or she submit 20-25 pages of proofed, polished writing.

We’re almost there.  Good luck!

Week of 1/17/12: Writing

These students should complete the first draft of all of their final projects by the end of class Thursday!!!  They should seek peer edits as they work throughout the week.

We will conference on Friday regarding drafts.  I will not read a student’s paper until it has been peer edited at least once.

Week of 1/9: Writing

We made some decent progress last week.  Let’s keep it up!  This week, please leave two comments on this post:

One comment should list a writer you admire–someone you’d like to model your work after.  Link to a piece he or she has written.

The second comment should be a response to someone else’s.  Do you like the same writer?  Did you learn anything by following the link?

Neither comment needs to be longer than one paragraph.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PRESENT AT LEAST A PARTS OF A ROUGH DRAFT BY FRIDAY, JANUARY 13!!!

Week of 1/3/12: Writing

Well, we’re in the home stretch!  Please take a look at the final project assignment once again.

A one-page progress report is due this Friday.  Please explain what you’ve completed so far, what you plan do complete in the next few weeks, any challenges you anticipate, and let me know if there’s anything I can help with.

Writing Final

It’s finally here!  Take a look and start preparing your final projects!

WR Final

Also, here is a contract saying you understand the expectations and due dates for the assignment.  I expect a few people won’t complete it on time, and it’s important for guidance and/or your parents and guardians to understand why you’ll get an “F” for the semester.  I’m not trying to sound negative, but it happens every year . . .

WR Final Project Contract

We’ll use the time before Christmas break to plan and begin the initial stages, but definitely be ready to work hard when we return!
